The Ukrainian Alphabet
People in Ukraine speak Ukrainian, but a lot of people also speak Russian.
Both of these languages use a different alphabet from what we use in Canada.

Some of the letters look the same as our letters and sound the same:
А, Е, І, К, М, О, Т
Other letters look the same but sound different:
В = English V
С = English S
Н = English N
Р = English R
У = English U
They have letters which look different but sound like English letters:
Ф = English F
Д = English D
И = English Y as in the word funny
They have letters which are like two English letters together:
Ш = English SH
Я = English YA
Ч= English CH
Ю = English YU
